‘Dracula’ Prequel Book in the Works, Mark Hamil Criticizes Disney’s Use of Star Wars and More! – ComicCorp News

Bram Stoker’s Great Grand-Nephew Writing Prequel – The descendant of Bram Stoker, Dacre Stoker will write with J.D. Barker, to create a prequel book to his great grand uncle’s iconic masterpiece, “Dracula”.  Dacre’s book will be called ‘Dracul’ and will focus on a younger version of Bram.

It’s 1868, and Bram, at 22 years old, has locked himself inside a desolate tower to face off against a vile and ungodly beast. Desperate to leave a record of what he has witnessed, Bram scribbles out the events that led him here — a childhood illness, a haunting nanny, stories once thought to be fables now proven true.

Youth horror icon, R.L. Stine has already praised the book, claiming that it really resonates with him and brings back the old school horror vibe developed in the first one.

Star Trek Icon Praises ‘Orville’ – Jonathan Frakes to many people will forever be Commander Will Riker.  However most may not know just how involved with the world of ‘Star Trek’ he is.  Not just as an actor, but Frakes has produced, directed and even written various episodes and films within the series.  While not the Captain of his own show, he is the one who has done more iconic work for the franchise.  So his opinion carries weight.  He’s involved in the Star Trek convention quite a bit and is routinely taking questions.  A few days ago he was asked about ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ and ‘Orville’ and was very complimentary about both, but especially Orville, saying;

The Star Trek that we have has really found its voice, and Discovery has really found its voice.  And The Orville has filled in a void. For a lot of people The Orville is their new Star Trek because it does tell stories like [The Next Generation], and it’s got wild humor in it..

Mark Hamil Thinks Star Wars Will Be Over Exposed – Mark Hamil has already been the voice of the disenfranchised by Disney.  Since Disney’s take over of the series, the new films have mostly failed to live up to the standards without relying on nostalgia goggles.  Hamil has even criticized ‘The Last Jedi’ before walking back his comments (probably after Disney asked).  Yet he’s now echoing another point that we’re all concerned about; too many movies.  Hamil is quoted as saying;

I will say they should pace themselves, because you don’t want to over-saturate it.  I said to Disney, ‘Really? Five months after we come out comes [Solo: A Star Wars Story]? Can’t you at least wait until Christmas?’ But they’ve got things booked – they’re doing Marvel and their own movies, so that’s beyond my [purview.]

Hamil’s not against more films, but does think they should space them out more and pace the release dates better.

Quick Hits – The new Rorschach has been revealed to be Doctor Malcolm Long,  the psychiatrist who treated the original Rorschach over the course of the original title.  The original Green Ranger, Jason David Frank, LOVES the controversy twist within the events of Shattered Grid, the current storyline for the ‘Power Rangers’ comic.   The book is completely sold out.
