Callihan Goes Full Heel, Former UFC Champ Talking to WWE and More! – WrestleCorp News

Sami Callihan Goes Full Heel – Playing up the incident on IMPACT Wrestling, where Callihan smashed Eddie Edwards in the face with a baseball bat (accidentally), Edwards is giving interview after interview in full blown heel mode.

Talking to WrestleZone, Callihan dropped this nugget about being sorry;

I’m kind of getting sick of this topic at this point. This is professional wrestling and the fact that this is such an issue boggles my mind. The fact that so many of the boys in the back are so upset. The fact that so many of the fans are upset. They say I need to take responsibility and apologize for my actions. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Did Owen Hart apologize to Stone Cold after he broke his neck? Did he go out and say, “I am so sorry for hurting this guy!” Did Bubba Ray Dudley go out on TV and social media and apologize after the first One Night Stand PPV for almost ripping off Tommy Dreamer’s ear with a reckless kendo stick shot? I don’t think so. That’s why this is such a stupid, status quo conversation. Sure, I hit a dude in the face with a baseball bat. You can see in my eyes I’m thinking, “Oh crap, I just hit a dude in the face with a baseball bat,” but I didn’t feel bad about it and I don’t apologize for it.

The now self titled ‘The Most Dangerous Man in Professional Wrestling’ went on to reitterate his feelings to Busted Open Radio, saying;

If I have to apologize to the fans, I’m not coming and working for your company anymore. Sh-t happens.

…I do not give a damn anymore. I’m at that point in my career where if you want to call me unsafe, call me unsafe. The fans want me unsafe, The boys in the back want to have insults about my work… You can look at my schedule and see I’m the most booked person on the planet. You can come find me and talk to me face to face, because that’s how I deal with stuff, like a man

(Authors Note: For those of you wondering, yes, this is him playing up the angle for the purpose of the show. I’m told Callihan was very remorseful about what happened. But this is great heel heat and some amazing promo work by Callihan.)

Rey Mysterio Update – Rey Mysterio apparently does have a partially torn left bicep according to ruomrs. PWInsider is claiming that the word going around about his injury has to do with the mobility Rey does have, claiming that someone with a complete tear would not have the range of motion that Rey does have. Still no true word about the injury. Another Rey-centric rumor has the WWE still working with Rey about getting a deal done. Apparently the arm injury has not detoured the WWE and still want to bring him back; though now it won’t be for WrestleMania more than likely.

WWE in Talks With Former UFC Champ? – Despite conventional wisdom to the contrary, Fabricio Werdum claims he’s working on a duel deal withe UFC and WWE. Werdum, a former Heavyweight Champion in UFC, claims he has a meeting with the WWE about working both shows. However, Werdum is 40, and isn’t a household name like Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar, Dan Severn or Ronda Rousey were when they jumped. They were also younger and all but Rousey started in pro wrestling first. I don’t buy this at all, I think it’s him trying to swing a new contract from Dana White is all.

Quick Hits – Tomohiro Ishii will be appearing at Supercard of Honor XII on April 7th. Eve Torres has announced she’s pregnant for the second time. Congrats to her and husband Rener Gracie. Hideo Itami and Akira Tozawa are now teaming on 205 Live and have become fans pick to win the inaugural Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships when they’re announced. Jeff Hardy has been cleared by his doctors to return to the ring, so a reunion with Matt Hardy at WrestleMania seems possible. Josh Nason of the Observer is claiming that there are currently no plans right now to have another War Games match on NXT during Survivor Series weekend.
