Joss Whedon Off ‘Batgirl’, DC Comics Cancels Many Books and More! – ComicCorp News

Joss Whedon Out of ‘Batgirl’ – Joss Whedon will no longer oversee ‘Batgirl’ into the world of film. He cites creative differences over the film, and most are willing to accept that. However, Whedon’s sterling reputation has taken a few bumps and bruises in recent years, as his own ex-wife has slammed him by saying he’s “…a hypocrite citing feminist ideals”. Whedon’s quoted as saying that he left the Batgirl project because he didn’t have a story, but he’s created hundreds of stories in his career, now he doesn’t have one? With DC and Warner Bros. distancing themselves from negative figures in media recently, it’s entirely possible that they opted to stop working with Whedon on this project, knowing the media scrutiny they’d have to contend with. Outside of Wonder Woman, DC’s most iconic woman might just be Batgirl, so it stands to reason that DC and WB didn’t want Whedon to bring any type of negative press. But that’s merely speculation.

DC Canceling Books Left and Right – Following the news that ‘Super-Sons would be cancelled by DC Comics, rumors are now that ‘Titans’ and ‘Teen Titans’ will be cancelled as well by the publisher. It should also be noted that ‘Justice League of America’, ‘Batgirl’, ‘Birds of Prey’ ‘Supergirl’ and ‘Trinity’ are also ending. Now it should be noted that DC may just be reshuffling things and figuring how to re-utilize these characters after the “No Justice” event.

However, ‘Super-Sons’ writer Peter Tomasi tweeted out that he’s not done with Superboy and Robin.
