Powerbomb.TV Controversy Gets Ugly, Lucha Underground Gets New Temple and More! – WrestleCorp News

Major Powerbomb TV Scandal Developing – Oh boy, this is going to get ugly and spoiler alert; I’m going to skim through the bullet points. For the whole story by Sean Ross Sapp, click HERE. However, here’s the CliffsNotes version. Ian Rotten of IWA Mid South is booking Michael Elgin for a future stream with Powerbomb TV and are using his controversies as a way to market him. Seems scummy to say “We’re booking him because no one else will” but hey, whatever. Rotten has thrown insults at the woman who alleged abuse by Elgin, demeaning her by calling her a ring-rat, a slut in the wrestling business that translates to groupie.

Adam Lash, co-founder of Powebomb TV had an issue with their service running the IWA events that featured Elgin and started an internet campaign to pressure his company to drop IWA from their service until Elgin was no longer working there. Powerbomb TV responded to this by firing Lash. Powerbomb TV cites Lash’s “repeated unprofessional behavior on social media” as well as towards employees, owners and performers; citing that this was not an isolated incident.

It gets even more interesting, as there are now conflicting reports over what’s happening at the service in regards to IWA. Many fans don’t want to support IWA, and want to know if there’s a way to opt out of funding IWA in their streaming subscription. A man on Twitter known as ClueBattery claims that promotions get paid X amount depending on views. However, Lash is stating that Powerbomb has a deal with IWA and Smark Mark Video that pays them a flat fee regardless of views, effectively saying that Elgin and IWA are going to make money regardless on if people boycott that specific event.

Lash blogged about the situation, claiming;

In November of 2017 we began our deal with Smart Mark Video. As part of that deal we began getting IWA Mid-South content. IWA had by that point earned a pretty bad reputation, and with good reason. Still, owner Ian Rotten had a young crop of talent that I felt deserved a spotlight. As live streaming became more and more important to our business model the idea to stream IWA events became a topic of discussion. This was before the Michael Elgin situation unfolded, mind you. I felt, because we would be putting more eyes on IWA than had been on them in the last decade, and believing that I had the backing of Smart Mark Video owner Mike Burns, that we’d be able to make Ian behave while giving talent the exposure they deserved. Unfortunately, on all accounts, I was wrong.

He continues on saying,;

Despite what Gerard Durling and Powerbomb.tv claims, we never signed any contract with Ian Rotten or IWA.

The blog post, which can all be seen on the above link, details more of the event, including that Powerbomb TV is flat out lying on several things.

Lucha Underground’s New Home – With the news that tickets for Lucha Underground’s 4th season are now on sale, comes a reveal that shows us the first look of the new ‘Temple’. The Temple was the name for the Boyle Heights warehouse that was converted into a makeshift wrestling arena. With season four right around the corner, we now have our first look at the new Temple, thanks to Uproxx. The new ‘arena’ will be at the Union Central Cold Storage building in downtown Los Angeles. The writer of the story withed most of the building’s true design and look to save for the show’s reveal, but he claims that the building will hold more than the last set. The photo can be seen below.

NWA/IMPACT Wrestling Update – It’s confirmed to Mike Johnson a rumor I heard a few weeks ago that states IMPACT and the NWA have a working relationship again for the first time in eleven years. The two sides have met multiple times about working together, something that both IMPACT and the NWA have had with other promotions and companies around the business.

Quick Hits – Jeff Cobb was backstage last night at SmackDown, but no reason was given as to why. IMPACT Wrestling is looking at bringing in Greg Bagrozy to help with live events, a suggestion that Michael Vedder (Wrestling Director) brought up. Dalton Castle has joined Chris Jericho’s cruiser in October. Lashley is officially a free agent as of today.
