XFL Coming Back and How It Affects WWE, Daniel Bryan in the Rumble? and More! – WrestleCorp News

XFL Update and News – Vince McMahon has announced today the long rumored XFL return. This time with a faster game and more rules! Or something, it was a dumb announcement. The only way the XFL will ever compete with the NFL is by overpaying talent to bring eyes to the league.

Here are some of the finer details of this potential flop. Vince claims he’s personally funded the project this time around. He’ll continue his role with the WWE as Chairman and CEO. The league is scheduled for a spring 2020 debut (like before). The league will again launch with eight teams and a ten week regular season and a two week postseason, also like the first time around.

The XFL will not allow franchising, and all teams will be owned by the league. Major and mid-market cities will be considered for the league to have teams. The League will select the franchises names and logos. Much like before, players will be paid more if they win, and less if they lose.

So, essentially it’s the same exact plan as before. But this time it’s going to succeed? Again, Vince McMahon’s legacy should be the guy who was really good at buying things that were already popular; this just proves he’s not the genius everyone thinks he is.

Stamford, Conn., January 25, 2018 – Professional football will be reimagined when the new XFL kicks off in early 2020. The XFL will deliver a fan-centric, innovative experience, including shorter, fast-paced games and a family-friendly environment, complemented by cross-platform viewing options and real-time fan engagement.

Plans for the XFL at launch include eight teams, 40-man active rosters and a 10-week regular season schedule, with a postseason consisting of two semifinal playoff games and a championship game.

“The new XFL is an exciting opportunity to reimagine America’s favorite sport,” said Vince McMahon. “As we move towards kickoff, we look forward to listening and implementing innovative ideas from players, coaches, medical experts, technology executives, the media and most importantly football fans.”

McMahon, a visionary and an accomplished business executive, is personally funding this venture through Alpha Entertainment, a new private entity. McMahon will continue as WWE Chairman & CEO.

Daniel Bryan/Royal Rumble Update – Despite odd makers claiming to have inside information, Daniel Bryan is not expected to appear in the Royal Rumble according to Dave Meltzer. Bryan also says that if he’s not cleared to wrestle by the doctors, then when his contract is up he’ll just leave the company and retire. So it’s pretty clear that Bryan isn’t sticking around regardless unless the WWE reactivates him on the active roster.

Quick Hits – Chad Gable and his wife had their second child today. Congrats to both. HHH recently talked about Ronda Rousey coming into the WWE and completely dismissed the notion that she was taking someone’s spot, without actually explaining why. WWE allegedly considered Summer Rae as the 205Live GM before she was released. All charges against Rich Swann have been dismissed due to ‘insignificant evidence’. The WWE will have to either bring him back or release him now.
