New RoboCop Film Coming? Sonic Team Loses Major Member and More! – ComicCorp News

RoboCop Getting Remake? – According to Ed Neumeier, the man who wrote the original 1987 ‘RoboCop’ film, the series is being relaunched, sort of. Neumeier is working on a sequel to the 1987 original, that would ignore RoboCop 2 and 3, as well as the recent 2014 remake. While speaking to Zeitgeist about the film, and it’s upcoming re-sequel, he said the following;

Well, here’s what I’ll say. We’re not supposed to say too much. There’s been a bunch of other RoboCop movies and there was recently a remake and I would say this would be kind of going back to the old RoboCop we all love and starting there and going forward. So it’s a continuation really of the first movie. In my mind. So it’s a little bit more of the old school thing.

Red Sparrow Director Talks Comparisons With MCU Character – The comparisons to Jennifer Lawrence’s new film, ‘Red Sparrow’ and the MCU character Black Widow are pretty obvious, though not so obvious that ‘Red Sparrow’ director Francis Lawrence (no relation) didn’t defend his new movie. In an interview with ScreenRant he went on to say that;

There’s people who think it’s very similar to the Black Widow story. This is not pulled from BW, this is pulled from Red Sparrow, you know, it’s just like written by a guy who was in the CIA. It’s like, his references are coming from a very very different place from that. But there’ll always be that. People like to put things in boxes, and I think is a really unique film. This is a thriller, it’s not action, again it’s not gadgety. It’s a hard-R. There’s violence, it’s a bit perverse, it’s suspenseful, a lot of intrigue. It ‘s a very different kind of spy film.

He also mentions that he’s aware of potential similarities with ‘Atomic Blonde’ as well.

Sonic Lead Joining Square Enix? – It was announced on Twitter today that Sonic the Hedgehog Team Lead Yuji Naka has left the team, and has joined up with Square Enix. Yuji Naka has been with the Sonic Team since the character’s creation in 1991, and his departure feels like a huge blow for the legendary video game franchise.

Quick Hits – ‘Shazam!’ has added Marta Milans to their cast, as the foster mother to Billy Batson and his foster siblings. David F. Sandberg also said that ‘Shazam!’ will be funny, but not in an abundance of ‘quippy one-liners’ that have become the superhero norm. Netflix’s ‘Bright’ is one of the services most viewed original titles ever, and has apparently helped the company beat earnings estimates, and helped bring in a record number of new subscribers. DC has decided to end their series Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman team up book called “Trinity” with issue #22.
