Rian Johnson Defends Dumb Scene, ‘Ocean’s 8’ Trailer Debuts and More! – ComicCorp News

Rian Johnson Defends Controversial Scene – Remember that scene in “Last Jedi” where Rey arrives on Ahch-To and gives Luke the old lightsaber that used to belong to Obi-Wan? Then Luke throws it over his shoulder without hesitation for the ‘LOLZ’? Well Rian Johnson wants you to know that scene was super dark and moving….allegedly;

So, that leads you down a really specific path in terms of where his head is at. And if he’s done that and if he’s made this huge Herculean effort to pull himself out of the fight, to hide in, like he says, ‘The most unfindable place in the galaxy,’ it took an entire movie for the most heroic, smartest people in the galaxy to even find him, he’s put himself away. Then some kid shows up that he doesn’t know and shoves this thing that is everything that he has made this huge effort to step away from into his face with this look in her eyes of expectation like, ‘Here you go,’ and what is he going to do? Take it and say, ‘Great. Let’s go save the galaxy.’ He’s made this choice. He’s there for a reason. I knew it was going to be shocking, but I did it because it felt like, obviously it’s a dramatic expression of it, but it’s an expression of honestly the way that he is going to react to that moment.

Also, it should be noted that Ren

Opinion: That’s all well and good, but that moment didn’t express any of that, it was a gag moment. A moment of sheer emotion that was destroyed by a gag throw-away-joke. The audience erupted in laughter. No one saw that as anything deeper than what it was; a cheap joke.

Ocean’s 8 Trailer Has Debuted – So the new trailer for Ocean’s 8 is out….and it’s…eh. The trailer features Sandra Bullock as Danny Ocean’s sister going out and attempting to steal a necklace in the possession of Anne Hathaway. However there seems to be more going on here than meets the eye, as Cate Blacnet’s character scolds Bullock’s character for doing a “job within a job”. Then at the end of the trailer we see her drinking in a mausoleum, in front of Danny Ocean’s tomb. So the rumors that this may be a movie featuring Bullock attempting to save her brother might just be true after all.

It should be noted that this is a spin off film, not a reboot, and may contain some characters from the original (but I doubt it’d be Casey Affleck).

Opinion: I go to the theater so rarely anymore, mostly because I hate how little respect others have for their fellow man. So that being said I won’t be going to see this in theaters but may check it out when it comes out to rent. The issue I have with the trailer, other than not finding the humor to be aimed at my general tastes, is that I dislike the cast. Most of these women I just don’t like watching in any films, and the one or two that I do, seem to be minor characters. Also, that whole “9-Ball/8-ball” name joke was awful and should be burned with fire. Why do people keep casting Rihanna…
