Disney Buys Fox Studios, Update on “Aquaman” Villains and More! – ComicCorp News

Disney Purchases Fox – Disney has officially acquired Fox’s studios. That means X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic Four, and the like are all returning to the House of Mouse. Unless the deal falls apart, which would cost Disney $2 billion in damages.

Kevin Feige commented on this saying;

The agreement also provides Disney with the opportunity to reunite the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love.

Other major names now include “Avatar”, “The Simpsons”, and “Modern Family”.

Disney CEO Speaks Out About Deadpool – Disney CEO Bob Iger said he’s hopeful that Ryan Reynolds will stay with the franchise. In a call with investors regardign the deal, Iger commented about the prospects of future Deadpool movies, saying;

[Deadpool] clearly has been and will be Marvel branded. But we think there might be an opportunity for a Marvel-R brand for something like Deadpool. As long as we let the audiences know what’s coming, we think we can manage that fine.

Obviously the big question will be about the possibility of keeping an R-rated superhero film franchise going, something that Disney doesn’t seem that keen to do. But we’ll see.

James Wan Comments on “Aquaman” Villains – James Wan spoke about “Aquaman” and revealed that the rumors of the their being three villains is untrue, revealing some details about the upcoming film, saying;

This is what I’ll say: I don’t have three villains. I think that’s ridiculous! I would never go into an origin movie with three villains. We don’t even know the main character let alone the world and its antagonist. I believe in taking baby steps.

I want to introduce Arthur Curry in a much more emotional and powerful way, and introduce Mera played by Amber Heard, and of course there’s Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison playing his parents. We know Black Manta is in there, but I will say this: Patrick Wilson is the main antagonist in this film. I wouldn’t necessarily say ‘villain,’ but he’s the antagonist.

Quick Hits – John Boyega was left speechless following an interview with a UK news show, where they revealed huge Star Wars spoilers. “Aquaman” star Patrick Wilson is optimistic about the upcoming slate of DC films. “Justice League of America” #20 has reintroduced Aztek into the DC Universe. Wentworth Miller to reprise Citizen Cold one more time on “The Flash” before retiring from the role.
